Well, as I have learned over the years, reading is a key element to writing successfully. As some of you may know, the name of this forum actually comes from the book Animal Farm by George Orwell. So today in English class we started a book discussion over it, and I realized how many different perspectives you can take on a single thing; how many different things you can learn from it.
So anyways, I wanted to start something sort of like that here. Since most of you probably haven't read Animal Farm, you can post about any of your favorite books. I know this is kind of an odd idea, but, hey, I am bored. It would be fun to know what you guys are interested in. You might even find some good reading material in the process.
So, what I really like are the horror, mystery, and adventure genres. I also enjoy books taking place during WWII, like The Hiding Place and Anne Frank's Diary. At the moment, I would have to say Stephen King is my favorite author, though C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien are also amazing writers. Having only read a few by Arthur Conan Doyle, I can tell you that I really liked those that I read, but I couldn't give you my opinion his as a wholet. I haven't really gotten a chance to read a great variety of books considering I usually stick to a single author for a while, so there are obviously many talented people I haven't mentioned.
I would have to say my top favorite books include The Shinning, The Green Mile, Pet Sematary (all by Stephen King), and The Hobbit (J.R.R. Tolkien). I also like some of the later books in the Harry Potter series.
So, if any of you want to comment on the books I have talked about or post your own, feel free! Hopefully we can find some common ground somewhere...
